Welcome September

Summer is officially over which for me means Miami will kinda sorta finally not be so damn muggy & hot! Don't get me wrong I do love Miami no matter how many times I say I want to leave, it is still home.

So FALL is approaching us which equals wearing scarves, long sleeve shirts and boots, in Miami that is like a miracle. You see us all running around in short shorts or summer dresses or covered in bear pelts. It is one extreme or the other here since it is rarely chilly, cool, windy or anything of that sort.
It isn't just about fashion, I also love all the great home decor and accessories that come with the fall season. Here are a couple of beautiful items I stumbled upon through etsy.

This tribal scarf is absolutely stunning, I love all the colors and how beautifully it goes with fall. It just looks like I would be all nice and toasty while wearing it. Don't you think?

Tribal Over sized Fringed Poncho Scarf

OMG in love with these!! If it weren't for the fact that I already have thank you cards for my customers I would have already purchased these!

Dr. Who! That is all!

Doctor Who Tardis Iphone 5 case

Fallow Deer Skull

Dream Iphone 5 Case

Paper Sculptures Set

Now you may be thinking what the heck is a bikini doing here!? Well if you live in Miami or have similar weather then you know you can still have fun in the sun during the fall.

Green High Waist Mermaid Bikini Bottom

Table lamp from driftwood

Bohemian fringe dress

This just looks like something I would have as a piece in my future brick & mortar shop! What do you think of this being in a jewelry store?

Redesign

Redesigning is my way of recycling a design. I love druzy's, I think they are beautiful and look like mystical rocks that sparkle. Don't you?! They come in so many different shapes, sizes and color the possibilities are endless.

At first I designed these druzy stones with gold beads and thought oh my how sexy! Apparently in the Etsy community I was alone in my love for this design. Not to fret I just redesigned them into these bright colored beaded bracelets with gold accents.

Well these got way more attention but alas there they were sitting in my inventory with out a new home. Not to worry I have plenty of other ideas for these stones and then I decided I would make wire wrapped druzy rings! Now I have two rings reserved

For those fellow entrepreneurs that have something that does not sell or get any attention, do not worry I am sure you can redesign it into something that will catch someones attention! I know I am happy that I was able to design these druzy into something else, it also shows you not how versatile I am as a designer but also how these beautiful stones can pretty much be made into anything.

Styling NovaMar Jewelry

I love putting outfits together! Seems like my closet just grows, virtually anyways. The Starfish Ring is my most popular item on and off of my store. I figured I would style one for you guys.

What do you think? Do you have any other ways we can style either a starfish ring or any of the many designs NovaMar has to offer. Send me an email to collaborate KMBalda@gmail.com

Peacock Blue Briolette Earrings

Part of being a creative soul is experimenting with color and new techniques. With time you will notice that my dominant color is BLUE all shades of it! It is my all time favorite color ever since I was a little girl. I thought it was strange that all the other little girls loved pink (Blah) in time I realized it was the dreamy, creative person inside that new that all the shades of blue would inspire me.

This is my first time wire wrapping and I am pretty satisfied with the outcome! Not only am I in love with the color scheme (of course) but I know with more practice my designs will get even better. Soon enough I will have more of these lovely beauties and right after I will have rings and goodness knows what other things my imagination will come up with.
First attempt not too shabby.

Final design, I love it!

Meet Julia the Owner & Creator of Eternal Girl

Julia came into the designer world unexpectedly, as she uses henna inspired drawings as a creative outlet. Suddenly she decided to order some jewelry supplies and started experimenting. During her first year designing Julia would gift her lovely necklaces to friends. Thanks to those great friends for encouraging her to open up shop!

From that point on Julia's shop started coming to life, as most of us know deciding to have a shop is just the first step. I believe the most crucial step is deciding on what to call your business. Julia got it right and with meaning too, which let's face it we all love a good story.
Story Behind the name Eternal Girl:
"Puer aeternus," which is Latin for 'eternal boy,' has mythological meaning of being child-like and craving boundless freedom; being forever young in a sense. My artwork is an outlet of my inner expressions, my inner child, so to speak. Being a women and creating jewelry for women, I used the female version, puella aeterna, or Eternal Girl to describe my work.

Tell us a little bit about your shop.
Eternal Girl specializes in handmade jewelry and greeting cards. The jewelry is made of my own hand-drawn designs. Eternal Girl's designs are inspired by henna art. Each drawing features symbolic images specific to henna tradition. Available products include necklaces, rings, key chains, earrings, and open-ended greeting cards. Custom orders are also available.

Protector Fish Necklace

What inspired you to start designing your own jewelry line?
I've always loved to draw ever since I was little. Putting together necklaces came about unexpectedly- I just had an urge to create. A few years ago, I ordered some necklace supplies and began experimenting. I was drawing lots of henna inspired designs at the time, and that's what I ended up drawing for the pendant necklaces. After about a year of making necklaces as gifts, my friends encouraged me to sell them online.

Lady Bug Ring

What is your favorite piece / design from your collection ?
I really like my paisley necklace design. I like to call this a "free style floral" design, where I can go beyond the constraints of a typical flower and draw free flowingly, so to speak.

Do you ever make your designs for yourself?
Sure. Most of my designs are from my own inspiration.

How to style NovaMar Jewelry

Last week I shared with you how to style my designs into your outfits on Be Real Be You. In order to do this I use Polyvore  to show the everyday fashionista the many different styles that NovaMars jewelry offers.

If you've never heard of or used Polyvore before it is s program that allows you to add items to your account and then you can create your own outfit, diy tutorial or your favorite makeup products. Since I have added my own designs to the database, other members also have access to them too. So I signed on today and to my surprise a ton of people have used my Pink & Gray Bracelet Set and incorporated it to their style. I have picked the top three that I absolutely love. I love how these three individuals have used one of my designs in such beautiful and diverse ways.

This makes me happy beyond belief, just knowing that I am designing exactly what I set out to do!

Be Real Be You

As a jewelry designer I strive to make vibrant yet playful jewelry for your everyday life. Weather it be for a date night, special occasion even work. One of the obstacle I have come across is that we all want to know how "such and such" accessory or outfit  that we find online will look with things that we already own. Not only have I been told this but I have experienced it myself. In result I have started using my designs as inspiration to outfit ideas. This one is featuring the Blue and Gray Bracelet Set which can be found on Etsy through NovaMar

I live in Miami, Fl and let me tell you it is extremely hot even at night, shorts is the best way to go to stay cool. A nice flowy black shirt with matching sandals. I know that what is on here not everyone owns but something similar too would work perfectly. This would be great for a casual day out and this outfit can easily be changed from day to night.

In the future to be featured send me an email with your outfit ideas to KMBalda@gmail.com including one of my designs.

Fourth of July: Makeup

I love love love makeup! I mean who doesn't, love being doled up? So as much as love makeup I notice that so many people cake it on, not very attractive.Unless you are going out at night there is no reason what so ever anyone should have an excess amount of makeup on it looks low class. I can not tell you how many times I have seen beautiful young women walk into an interview looking like they are ready for a night out on the town and its not just the makeup the outfit screams "I don't care". I believe makeup is for the sole purpose of extenuating your beautiful natural features not to look like someone barfed makeup on you. :) So for this reason I will start sharing what I love to use along with pictures. Sorry the pictures are a little blurry, what can I say I was in the moment and an Iphone is all I had.
